5. The 'Configuration' menu

The 'Configuration' menu provides two submenus. The first is used to change the configuration of an individual user, which means, that TCL-NT stores every user's own configuration.
The second submenu is normally not of interest, because it is planed for future use, but at the moment it provides an easy way to query the license code from the hardware lock (dongle).

The 'Configuration' menu

5.1 Change Configuration ...

As stated above, the 'Change Configuration' submenu provides specific settings for every user known to TCL-NT. In this example, the settings for the user 'Peter' are shown.

The 'Change Configuration' menu for user Peter

Macro directory
The edit field shows the macro directory, which you can change here. If you have chosen a 'wrong' working directory when you started TCL-NT the first time as a new user, you can correct this choice here.
Plugin directory
The edit field allows to specify a directory where EMMENU will search for plug-in modules. Plug-in modules are DLLs with a well-defined interface providing additional functionality to EMMENU.
Screen saver
The 'Screen saver' edit field allows to select a screen saver only for the TCL-NT application. This screen saver works totaly independent of the system's screen saver. The advantage of this 'second' screen saver is that you can chose a screen saver which does not procude much light, ( or even none ) on the display(s) while working with TCL-NT. For working with other applications you have your normal screen saver available, which may produce many funny things at the screen. ( See also chapter 4.4.)
Logging mode
The section 'Logging mode' is reserved for the programmers of this application. It is not explained here and should be unchanged. There normal setting is 'Off'.
Internal mode
The section 'Internal mode' is reserved for the programmers of this application. It is not explained here and should be unchanged. There normal setting is 0.
Note: do not make any experiments with 'Logging mode' or 'Internal mode' !
Background color
You can alter the background color in the 'Background color' section. The background is the area within the client area, which is outside the display area (= 1280x1024 pixels). If you like to have a background like this, just enter the values 255, 127 and 0 in the three fields besides 'RGB:', which stands for :Red, Green and Blue. Each value must not be lower than 0 or greater than 255. A click on the colored square opens the Windows standard color selector dialog.
Display offset
The origin (this is the upper left corner) of the display area is normaly set to (0, 0), which is the upper left corner of the client area. If you like, you can set this origin to other values, e.g. (256, 512), which moves the origin 256 pixels in x and 512 pixels in y direction.
Warnings
The 'Warnings' section gives you the possibility to activate/deactivate the warnings before leaving the TCL-NT application or the EMMENU.
Online FFT offset / Zoom display offset
For the online FFT display and the zoom display there are free selectable offsets available. The size of the zoom ( i.e. the size of the display area with the zoomed grey values ) can be selected out of 256x256 or 512x512.
Remove registry entries for
This section is used to reset data stored in the registry. A click on the button ...dialog positions will remove all the registry entries where the last positions of the dialog boxes are stored. I.e. after removing those entries from the registry, all dialog boxes will appear at their default positions.
A click on the button ...EMMENU entries will remove all the user dependent settings used in the EMMENU. This button deletes all the settings of the current TCL user, the data of all other users is not touched.
A click on the button ALL will open a dialog that explains how to remove ALL entries TCL made in the registry ( except the license code entry ).
Timed buttons
Some buttons of the EMMENU are so-called timed buttons. That means, the default button of a dialog also displays a count-down and after 0 is reached, EMMENU acts as if that button has been pressed. The advantage is that some automatic procedures do no more need supervisor's presence, the disadvantage is that error messages might get lost. Use the check box to dis-/enable the timed buttons. If the timed buttons are enabled, the Delay time (sec.) is used to specify the count-down time.
Timed button with 3 seconds left

Button: the 'Configuration' dialog is also activated with in the toolbar.

5.2 Layout

The 'Layout' dialog enables you to adapt the colors of the TCL/EMMENU dialogs to your personal taste.

The Layout dialog

In the Layout dialog you can modify both the dialog background color and the text color. To change the color, click into the bordered area with the current color and the Windows default color selection dialog will open. After selecting a color you will see the changed layout. A click on the button labeled will reset the color layout to the default grey colors.

5.3 Dongle

The 'Dongle' submenu is also reserved for future use. Nevertheless there is one function available at this time: under the 'License code' submenu the license code stored within the dongle is displayed and can also changed. But you should never need to use this feature.
