Taught by Sam Black.

Fall 1995: will run Oct. 25 - Nov. 20, in tandem with Cellular Immunity and Intracellular Parasites.

This course will explore the parasitic lifestyle by considering selected protozoa belonging to Phylum Sarcomastigophora which contains sleeping sickness parasites and Phylum Apicomplexa which contains the causitive agents of malaria. We will discuss how the pathogenic protozoa evade destruction by innate and acquired immune responses, acquire essential nutirents/growth factors, and kill their hosts.
