Graduate Students

I am always on the lookout for motivated and outstanding students to join my research program. If you are interested in joining the lab there are three different graduate programs you can apply to at UMass:

• Plant Biology Graduate Program (PB)
• Organismic and Evolutionary Biology Graduate Program (OEB)
• Molecular and Cellular Biology Graduate Program (MCB)

Each of these has a different focus within the biological sciences, and the most suitable program for you will depend on your particular research interests. Prior to applying, I encourage you to check out the information on each graduate program’s web site. I am happy to sponsor US citizens or residents that are interested in applying for an NSF Graduate Research Fellowship. International applicants may want to look into Faculty for the Future fellowships.

Postdocs

I generally only have open positions for postdoctoral researchers when a grant has been newly funded. However, I continuously welcome applicants who can find their own sources of funding. Below is a list of possible postdoctoral fellowships, some of which are available to international applicants too:

Undergraduates

Research experience is an important part of an undergraduate education, and can be of great benefit to the development of your professional career. I periodically accept undergraduates for training in my lab. If you are interested in hands-on laboratory work involving plant evolutionary genetics, please contact me (caicedo@bio.umass.edu). Please be prepared to provide a CV and contact information for one or two references. If you are interested in developing your honors thesis in my lab, you should contact me no later than halfway through your Junior year. Biology majors at UMass can also apply for any positions in my lab posted in BURA.
